Vicky Christina Barcelona Review

This is a romance unlike any other I've seen before, and it's astonishing that Woody Allen has done romance so many times and still comes up with new ideas. The closest similarity would be to say that its about a love triangle, but thats not quite correct, its more like a love octagon. Sereously... everybody likes at least two people except for the husband of Vicky. It's a very well made movie about two friends who go to Barcelona for Summer Vaction, both having very opposite ideas of what love and romance is. But they BOTH become infatuated by a man named Juan Antonio played by Javier Bardem who was the serial killer in "No Country for Old Men". He shows them around Barcelona as they both realize what they want in love after years of mysticism. The soundtrack is very lackluster and becomes extremely repetitive, it's the same song played over and over again and weared me down untill by the end of the movie it was really making me mad. It definately leaves off with a bunch of loose ends that really should have been tied up, but the ending works for what its worth. It's pretty entertaining and looks very good even though theres hardly ever a difference in setting. Definately not Woody Allens best film but certainly not bad. 4/5
